Ronald E. Hermance, Jr.

It is with great sadness that Hudson City announces that Ronald E. Hermance Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer passed away on September 11, 2014. 

Ron’s leadership and vision guided Hudson City for over 26 years.  He spearheaded Hudson City Savings Bank’s reorganization from a mutual savings bank to a publicly-held Company by completing what was at the time, the largest equity public offering by a U.S. bank.  Most importantly, the lives of many people were enriched by Ron during his extraordinary life.  He was a mentor to so many people both within and outside of the Bank.  His family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Ron’s career spanned 26 years at Hudson City.  In 1997, he became the eleventh president in the history of Hudson City Savings Bank and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2002 and Chairman of the Board in 2005.  He also served on the boards of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, Valley Hospital in Ridgewood and St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, his alma mater.

Ron was actively involved in his community.  His many affiliations included the YMCA of Ridgewood, St. Elizabeth’s Church, the Holley Center for Children, Family Counseling of Ridgewood, the Chapel of the Good Shepherd in Chautauqua, New York and Notre Dame High School in Batavia, New York, his alma mater.

News Update: Home Depot Data Breach - Caution Advised

Hudson City Savings Bank is aware of the unauthorized access to Home Depot’s payment data systems. The unauthorized access impacts Home Depot guests who made credit or debit card transactions in their U.S. and Canadian stores beginning in April of this year. While the company continues to determine the full scope, scale and impact of the breach, they are reporting that there is no evidence that debit card PIN numbers were compromised. Please be assured that Hudson City Savings Bank systems were in no way compromised. This current data breach announcement is specific to the Home Depot store network.

Nevertheless, customers should remain vigilant for incidents of fraud and identity theft by regularly reviewing their account statements for suspicious activity. Please be advised no one should ever request your PIN information. If someone is asking you for your personal information and telling you to click on links, don’t do it- even if it looks official. If a person calls you, claims to be with your “Bank” and says you've been affected by the Home Depot compromise, hang up. Then call the contact number on your Debit or ATM card or call your local branch to resolve the issue.

If a customer has immediate concerns, contact your local branch to obtain a current account transaction history. Hudson City Savings Bank card users have free fraud protection services already in place. The experienced analysts at FraudWatch Plus, work 24-hours a day, 365 days a year to prevent our DEBIT and ATM cardholders from becoming a victim of fraud. Nevertheless, if you discover any suspicious or unusual activity on your accounts or suspect fraud, be sure to report it immediately to your local branch or call 800-222-0194 ext. 3749.

Password Requirements

Hudson City has improved the security of our Internet Banking Website and is further protecting our customer's identity and personal information by enhanced password requirements. Passwords are now required to have a minimum of six to a maximum of sixteen characters that must contain at least one number and one letter. If you wish, you may also optionally use the following special characters ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + or use capital letters.

At Hudson City we are always striving to improve our Internet Banking services for you. We have redesigned your Account Access and Account History pages to give you a more comprehensive view of your accounts, transactions, and financial tools. From a single page, you will be able to review all of your accounts, balances, recent transactions, transfer funds between accounts, and pay bills with ease. Electronic Statements

Hudson City is pleased to announce that Electronic Statements are now available for all of our Consumer Checking and Statement Savings customers. To access your Electronic Statement simply log into Internet Banking and select the "eStatement" menu. If you are not yet an Internet Banking customer, you need to register for our Internet Banking by clicking the "Enroll" menu on the left side of this page.
